We strive to produce as much fresh produce for our community as possible with our resources. This means growing more crops than our two farm workers can manage by themselves. We are extremely grateful for all our volunteers that help us grow as much produce as we do. Our volunteers help us with a large variety of farm tasks including planting fields and greenhouses, weeding, watering crops, harvesting, weighing, and packing vegetables, mowing, miscellaneous construction projects, and more. We welcome both individuals and groups (preferably under 20 people), whether you want schedule a one time service day or join us more regularly. Volunteering tasks vary throughout the growing season with more focus on planting in the spring and weeding and harvesting throughout the summer and fall. However, there is usually a large variety of potential tasks and we work with our volunteers to make sure they feel safe and equipped to help in whatever ways they are able.
Educating others about agricultural is a important part of our mission at Matthew 25 Farm. We try to provide an educational experience for all our volunteers, teaching them a bit about agricultural practices and equipping them with resources should they want to start their own gardens or farms. If you have a school group or youth group coming to the farm, we'd be happy to provide an educational experience tailored to your group's age and familiarity with farming.
The farm is open for volunteers between May 1st and October 31st.
Volunteer opportunities are available Mondays through Fridays from 9:00am to noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. In addition, we are open on Saturdays from 8:00am to noon. The farm is closed on Sundays. For more information or to schedule a volunteer day, please contact matthew25farm@yahoo.com
It takes a team to run a non-profit. If you would like to be more involved behind the scenes in keeping Matthew 25 Farm running and growing, please consider joining our board. Being part of the Matthew 25 board entails a commitment to participate in monthly meetings, willingness to help make decisions regarding budgets, outreach, fundraising, and farm direction, and creativity to imagine the farm's future and steps that we can take to reach our goals. We would be happy to accept anyone willing to make these commitments regardless of agricultural experience. We believe everyone has something to offer whether it is financial wisdom, connections with community and other local organizations, knowledge of agricultural practices, fundraising experience, proficiency with technology, organizational skills, mechanical knowledge, or just a willingness to help others. If you are interested or want to know more, feel free to contact us.
As a 501(c)3 public charity, we rely on the generosity of others to continue our mission.
